WHAT IS ZOOM WHITENING? :
Zoom is a whitening process widely used around the world to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin.
Tooth discoloration can result from drinking coffee, tea, cola, and red wine; or from smoking. Also the aging process can also stain and darken the teeth.
The in-office ZOOM teeth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power whitening lamp (which speeds up the whitening process) to activate the 25% hydrogen peroxide whitening. As hydrogen peroxide breaks down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to whiten stained substances, without changing the structure of the tooth.
CONSULTATION AND TREATMENT PLANNING
Before deciding if teeth whitening at Zoom's office is right for you, Our Doctors will perform a complete exam of your teeth and gums to ensure proper health, and will discuss your oral hygiene and lifestyle habits with you to determine if you will benefit. of whitening.
This will help you, together with our Doctors, to agree on the whitening product or technique that best suits your needs.
During your consultation and evaluation, your dentist will also notice existing dental work, such as crowns and veneers, that will not respond to conventional whitening agents.
THE ZOOM PROCEDURE
The entire procedure takes less than an hour, but regular teeth cleaning is recommended prior to the actual Zoom teeth whitening session.
The procedure begins with a small preparation to cover the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed.
Next, the dentist or dental assistant applies the Zoom Hydrogen Peroxide Whitening Gel, which works in conjunction with the Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and remove stains and discoloration. The gel stays in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV, or listen to music.
The gel is applied during three 15-minute light activation sessions, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes. People with a strong gag reflex or anxiety may find it difficult to undergo the entire procedure. Immediately afterwards, a fluoride gel-paste is applied to the teeth that reduces sensitivity.
AFTER CARE: MAINTENANCE OF WHITENING EFFECTS
You will be given a Zoom Home Use Touch Up Kit that includes custom whitening trays. Patients should follow our Doctors' instructions on when and how to use this touch-up kit.
To help maintain the whitening effects of your treatment, it is recommended that you avoid certain foods and drinks, or consume them in moderation to avoid staining your teeth. This includes tea, coffee, red wine, cola, etc. It may also be suggested to use toothpastes that contain whitening agents to maintain the results of the procedure.
CONSIDERATIONS
Sensitivity may occur in some people during treatment. The Zoom light produces minimal heat, which is often the source of discomfort. In rare cases, mild tingling is experienced immediately after the procedure, but it always goes away.
As with other whitening products, Zoom is not recommended for children under the age of 13, or for pregnant or lactating women. Also, it is important to remember that whitening treatment may not be as effective for some people as it is for others. Only our Doctors can determine if teeth whitening is right for you after a full oral exam that includes a shade evaluation.
